Laurie --
Laurie, born in Oxford, NC, daughter of Marshall "Pete" and Nora Keeton, began singing gospel music at the young age of 5 and has continued her love in music ever since, especially gospel and country. She grew up in a family of 6 (Siblings include one sister & two brothers). She started playing piano at the age of 7 and credits her piano influences her grandmother Caroline Averette, Nancy Owens & Pat Hill. Later, she became interested in the acoustic guitar. "My father taught me a few chords, and it went from there." She began playing the piano for her church in Jr High and enjoyed every chance she got to sing. As a pre-teen and thru teenage years, she and her oldest brother, Dwight Keeton sang together in a gospel quartet (3 boys & a girl) with her grandmother, Caroline at the keys. They traveled around the area including spots in NC & Va.
Growing up in rural NC, her passion for country music continued to grow. She carried her love for playing and performing with her to college and it was there, through music, she met her husband to be. They played trio gigs together, and in 1997 finally one of her dreams came true, she, along with her husband, Eric, established a full band, a country/rock group called "Hicksboro Station". What a great group of guys & a gal!"
On Stage you may find her standing behind her double tier keyboard stand playing her Alesis and Yamaha OR all over the stage in action with her partner playing the Roland AX-1, of which she attracts the most attention. Having her AX-1 and being wireless vocally has given her the freedom to move about the stage. She says, "I just can't stay still!...I love good country music and there's nothing like singing it!" As one fan puts it, "she is country to the bone!"
She enjoys playing music with her husband & band and loves songwriting. She loves spending time with her immediate & extended families and enjoys doing for her church and youth group. She is the leader of the youth music group at Marrow's Chapel UMC called "FOOTPRINTS". She admits, they are some of the best kids in the world!
Eric --
Eric was born and raised in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains in the small town of Hudson. There was always music in that home; mostly gospel, and both parents were singers and his mother played piano. His father, Stanley Wilson, had a rich gospel music history and formed his first group at a young age with a high school friend named George Younce (later of the Cathedral Quartet). When he met Eric's beautiful, piano playing and singing mother (Joyce Wilson Curtis), he knew he had found the one. When Eric came along, a trio was later formed and they performed in area churches and for local events.
Through his teenage years, he had some formal training on piano (very little), but mostly on percussion from Jr. and Sr. High School. He soon became a huge fan of southern rock and country and used to spend many hours singing with a high school friend named Reggie Harris. "He is still today one of the most fascinating guitarists that I have ever met", Eric says. As Eric went on to college, he took his singing with him, but the drums had to stay at home. He met a classmate that could play guitar and they became close friends. His name was Les Moore. “No Les NO Moore”, he used to always say. He taught Eric how to play Rhythm guitar and within three months, they were playing “gigs” on campus and at local restaurants. He says, "It was here that I met one of my greatest influences in music, my beautiful, piano playing and singing wife, Laurie Keeton Wilson." Ain’t it funny how things come around full circle! Les, Laurie, and Eric soon formed a trio and played the campus gigs together.
Later, after Laurie and Eric were married and had completed all of their college adventures, they returned to Laurie’s hometown of Oxford and formed the band named “Hicksboro Station”. What a great group of guys and a beautiful gal!
The group currently consists of percussionist, John Wrenn, bass guitarist, Kenny Lynerd, and lead guitarist, Joey Miller, along with Laurie Wilson (Lead Vocals and Keys) and Eric Wilson (Lead Vocals and Rhythm guitar).
